The PPWR Quick-Check Score is based on a weighted assessment model with 25 scored questions across 6 categories:
- Governance & Organisation (15%): Responsibilities, inventory, degree of digitalisation, role clarity, legal monitoring, own-brand status
- Design & Portfolio (25%): Recyclability, design standards, composite materials, single-use plastics, Substances of Concern
- Recyclate & Material (20%): Plastic scope, recyclate documentation, contact sensitivity
- Labelling & Information (15%): Central label management, versioning per market, clarity, B2C/B2B scope
- EPR & Register (15%): Registrations, data model, authorised representatives
- Data & Documentation (10%): Technical documentation, declarations of conformity, traceability, supplier data
Each answer is scored 0–3 points. Category scores are weighted and aggregated into an overall score. One informational question on EPR fees is not included in the scoring.
The traffic light logic shows the maturity level per category:
- Green (≥ 75 points): Well positioned, continuous improvement recommended
- Yellow (50–74 points): Action required, structured improvement needed
- Red (< 50 points): Critical area, immediate action required
The confidence score indicates how reliable your assessment is and depends on the number of ‘Unknown’ answers:
- 80–100%: Very good data basis, result is reliable
- 60–79%: Solid basis, some data gaps should be closed
- < 60%: Result is indicative only, significant data gaps must be addressed

- 2025: PPWR enters into force in February 2025.
- 2026: General application date 12 August 2026: Substance restrictions for PFAS and heavy metals | Conformity assessment and documentation | First labelling obligations | Information/notice/reporting obligations | Participation in reuse systems.
- 2027: EPR in all EU countries.
- 2028: Harmonised labelling via pictograms, information on e.g. material composition and recyclate content | Compostability for certain single-portion units and labels.
- 2029: Labelling of reusable packaging via QR code | Deposit & return systems for plastic beverage bottles and metal containers.
- 2030: All packaging: At least 70% recyclable (“Design for Recycling”) | Plastic packaging: At least 35% recyclate content | Sales and transport packaging: 40% reusable (B2C) | Packaging minimisation mandatory.
- 2035: Inclusion of performance characteristics for large-scale recyclability (RaS) in the recyclability assessment.
- 2038: Ban on placing packaging with <80% recyclability-oriented design on the market.
- 2040: Higher minimum recyclate content in plastic packaging: At least 65% recyclate content | Higher reuse rate for sales and transport packaging: 70% (for B2C).
