The mobility of people and goods must be more efficient and ecologically sustainable in the future. The electrification of drive systems in motorized private transport, motorized freight transport and public transport is an important starting point for this. Equally relevant, however, is the digitalization of transport, for example to reduce the proportion of motorized transport through the intelligent networking of various mobility services.
With the funding programs and accompanying research projects managed by the department, we support the necessary technological and regulatory developments in a variety of ways: through direct project funding with funds from various federal ministries or the European Union, through knowledge transfer, networking and technology analyses. Our interdisciplinary team sees itself as a player at the interface between politics, science and business. The aim is to help shape the mobility system of the future in Germany while at the same time supporting the German mobility sector in positioning itself in the worldwide market.

In the field of mobility and transport technologies, we support and advise public authorities in the implementation of their political tasks in the field of research and innovation. Our services include the management of R&D funding programs and the support of projects as a contractor for federal ministries. In our capacity as a program management agency, we have the authority to grant subsidies as a trustee of the federal government. As a program manager, we are committed to the establishment and implementation of a wide range of cooperative R&D projects in the field of mobility and transport technologies.
Our interdisciplinary team, which includes engineers, natural scientists, economists and information technicians, works on a wide range of topics from ground-based technologies, automated and networked driving to lightweight construction, maritime systems (port technologies, modernization of coastal vessels) and digital test fields.

In the area of funding procedures, we support public clients in the handling of administrative procedures in the funding of research and infrastructure. We act as an interface between politics, public administration, business and science. Our support includes in particular the financial and legal review and monitoring of funded projects. We advise on all questions relating to the application process and take on the formal and budgetary review of grant applications as well as the accompanying documentation. Furthermore, we support the funding projects in all aspects of project management and audit the use of federal funding. In all phases of the project life cycle, we support our clients and project partners with financial expertise and in-depth knowledge of grant, budgetary, administrative and procurement law.
